ECU and Car Diagnostics in Peshawar

The ECU, or engine control unit, watches dozens of sensors and adjusts fuel and timing many times a second. When something falls out of range, it stores a fault code and may switch on the check engine light. That code is a clue, not a verdict. It points to a circuit, and the fault can be the sensor, its wiring, an air leak or something unrelated.

We connect a scan tool to your car's diagnostic port, read the codes and the live data, and then test the part or circuit behind the code before recommending any repair. Our workshop is on University Road in Tehkal, Peshawar.

Signs you need this

  • The check engine light is on, or flashes when you accelerate
  • The engine idles roughly, hunts up and down, or stalls at stops
  • Fuel use has gone up without a clear reason
  • The car hesitates or jerks when you press the accelerator
  • The engine takes several attempts to start when hot or cold
  • The gearbox shifts harshly or the car goes into a limited-power mode

How we do it

  1. Ask about the symptom

When does it happen, cold or hot, at idle or under load? These details narrow the search before the scanner is even connected.

  2. Read codes and live data

We connect the scanner, read stored and pending codes, and watch live data such as air flow, coolant temperature and fuel trims while the engine runs.

  3. Test behind the code

A code such as a sensor fault can come from the sensor, its wiring or an air leak. We test each so we replace only what has failed.

  4. Repair the cause

We fix or replace the faulty part or wiring. If the fault is inside the control unit itself, we tell you plainly before any work goes ahead.

  5. Clear codes and recheck

After the repair we clear the codes, run the engine and rescan to confirm the fault does not return.

Frequently asked questions

What does the check engine light mean?

It means the ECU has found a problem in the engine or emissions system. It could be minor, like a loose fuel cap, or serious. Only a scan and a test can tell you which.

Can I drive with the check engine light on?

If the light is steady and the car drives normally, you can usually drive to a workshop. If it flashes, or the car shakes or loses power, stop driving and call us. Our article on check engine light scanning explains more.

Will clearing the code fix the problem?

No. Clearing a code turns the light off, but the fault comes back if its cause is still there. We repair the cause first and then clear the code.

Does a scan work on every car?

It works on cars with a diagnostic port and an electronic ECU, which covers most modern petrol cars. Very old carburettor cars have no ECU to scan, and we check them by other methods.

How much does a diagnostic scan cost?

The cost depends on the car and how much testing the fault needs. Call or WhatsApp us with your car model and the symptoms and we will explain what to expect.
